#introductions I've been around, but I'm new here on weirder.earth! I like books, tea, and learning. I like small computers. I try to be helpful and thoughtful. Sometimes I make animations. I used to be a teacher and academic, now I'm a private-sector scientist and inventor. I have a lot of weird to give.

I had a spare minute last night so I did some self-care on my feet and heels and enough callous came off that they're honestly a slightly different shape plus I put lotion on them...

Anyways, I'm working from home today, so I'm not wearing shoes, and you can probably see where this is going.

I have definitely wiped out at least a few times on the floor of my house today, tripping on nothing. This is better somehow?

Does not seem unique or differentiated from the waterfall method, invented in 1956.

Waterfall has been superseded as a project management technique by several others. Rejection of technique is reasonable. Responding to the rejection by focusing on it as a rejection of "the users" is transparent.

As always, claiming you invented an easily researchable thing is bold/foolish. Insisting that others use it and throwing a tantrum is the behavior of a tyrant, not a community member.

He goes in directions like "we all know if women run too fast they risk turning into men" or other statements equally baffling and you get the sense that the world then is just utterly irreconcilable with the one now.

The mental whiplash is truly disorienting at times, but it's well worth the read/listen, if not just for the historical perspective.

So I got the audible version of the complete essays of montaigne, mostly because I've always wanted to have read them and love classics and works that heavily rely on them, but partially because it was 49 hours long and good value for the money.

Most of the time it's like "that's recognizable thought and right on, i'm picking up what you're laying down, dude, not so much is different" and then some of the time he goes in directions like (ctd)

as an inventor and someone who has to make business/tech/legal choices, I read the gargon drama and have to say that I would have done the same thing and there would really have been no other option. I would not regret this choice.

as a person that tries to be considerate and thoughtful, I still see a lot of big ideas online that seems just entitlement and egotism. you can say what you want, but it does not compel others to act. getting mad about this might miss the point.

As always, everything works better when you take all the fancy guts out and make it simpler, then do it again and again until there's barely anything left and everything does just one thing.

It seems to me that mental models are everything, and being able to reason precisely about code is the best feature code can have.

Fuck me, I'm depressed and it's making me super unpalatable lately.
