[EN] For a long time @ekaitz_zarraga and me have been thinking about opening a custom fabric and DIY product shop. We discovered a local fabric printing shop so we decided to go on and test it.
This is the result of our first test: 100% recycled polyester canvas (made with PET plastic coming from plastic bottles).
Do you like it? Would you like to have some items done with it? Like totebags, cases.
We need some feedback to continue with the idea!
Important thing for all who can see this.
If someone confronts you on your racism or sexism... that means that they like you enough and trust you enough to hear and listen.
If they didn't think you were redeemable, if they didn't think you were worth it, they would roll their eyes and just avoid you. Block on sight, shut down in conversation.
If we confront you about it, no matter how bruskly it may seem. It means that we legitimately think you are better.
I just figured out what annoys me about phrasing that indicates nonbinary folk are female or male presenting: the implication that it's intentional.
I don't present as a gender, I'm *perceived* as a gender, and until I start hormones, people are going to look at my face and assume I'm my assigned gender.
It doesn't matter what fucking clothes I choose to wear, people are gonna look at my face and see someone of my assigned gender.
It's not presentation, it's perception.
trauma, relationships, psychology
I've misplaced the toot that introduced me to this blog post about "people-pleasing" tendencies and the "fawn" response to trauma. but it's really really good: https://letsqueerthingsup.com/2019/06/01/fawning-trauma-response/
I'd heard of this phenomenon before, but never described in a way that made it so clear how it relates to my own life and relationships.
I've been thinking about it all day, as a series of lightbulbs went on re: my past, my loves, my family, my friends. wow.
"For centuries, Islamic designers and craftsmen have made geometric patterns just by drawing straight lines and circles with a compass and straight edge... Tilemaker lets you build layers of lines and circles, mimicking their actions. As you experiment drawing different intersections of line segments and circles you will discover new patterns, just as they did!"
This (free) app is super fun and it seems it was created to share a bit of Islamic culture/history.
Holy shit. Someone named Isabel Fall took "I sexually identify as an attack helicopter" as a writing prompt and produced one of the most fabulous cyberpunk, post-human, trans-human mindfucks I've read in a long time. This is extremely my shit
This is probably a timely reminder to say that I'm working on a new fediverse software thing with friends that actually gives a shit about addressing the kind of situations where some idiot scientists scrape thousands of posts without permission and then call some of the people in those posts 'sexual deviants'
I feel pretty great about this next decade, to be honest.
I know it's basically the modern mindset to hate every moment you're in, and crap on the idea of actual progress.
But when I think back to 2010 -- which doesn't feel that long ago to some of us olds -- and compare how things were then to how they are now, in 2019?
Holy shit, so much has changed for the better. So much more is discussed openly now, or is available, or is considered *real*.
reflecting on one's complicity with white supremacy, anyone join me
I have started the "Me and White Supremacy Workbook" by Layla F. Saad.
I'm still reading the intro and the "how to use this book" section.
she recommends to exchange thoughts with other people who hold white privilege who work through this book.
