I visited the farmer we get our main grains from: wheat and rye.
it's the worst drought in the last 40 years in our area and the harvest will be pretty pretty bad.

bad news after last years harvest has also been pretty awful. and it definitely is climate change.

and now I'm back in the city were people live in sweet oblivion when it comes to this drought situation.

@distel That's bad :( The people from the Karlahof were looking for someone to use their wheat and rye last time I heard, but they will be hit by the drought as well, I suppose. We're getting our grains from the Biohof Lex, but that's pretty far away and I suppose you would find closer alternatives. I bitterly remember the lack of apples and apple juice last year :(

@distel Also, we have to water the plants and trees every day at home currently, and a few days ago I was thinking that we probably need to get used to doing this in Berlin.

@adrianheine yes. and thanks for the tip, but we're not looking for an alternative source, I was just tooting about how bad the weather is.

@distel Oh yeah, I was just babbling, I guess. It's great that you stick with them :)

@draco yeah it is really sad. I looked at some fields and it was really depressing. I heard of a farmer who farms herbs, and she lost her complete harvest already. our partner farm has at least some wheat, the winter wheat has received enough water from last winter, but the summer wheat is gone. the rye took it pretty well. and spelt took it pretty well too. but these two are good for dry, arid climates.

@OldBrushNewPaper I love your witness pebble toots. it's a really nice idea.
