#pancakes I love them lately why is nobody in germany selling american pancakes? i guess because they take too long to bake, you have to stand there and flip and repeat it and if a lot of people want some you stand there for a long time... but the same goes for fried/grilled sausage and everyone sells them. and for crêpes. no, crêpes are quicker to make and you don't need to make a stack of them for each plate.
@distel pancakes when I lived in a big co-op I was the brunch cook, I made pancakes for 40 every Saturday. all you need is a big griddle so you can make like 10 at once, it's easy. and just about every diner in the US serves them.
@distel so it must be a marketing problem, like, Germans don't think they like American food, or don't want a giant platter of simple carbs in the morning or something? or else it's a new fad waiting to happen.
@mcmoots I hope its going to be a new fad, because yummie!
it's okay for me, I can make them myself. I just wonder why it's not a thing here. thanks for the insight, it makes sense, if you have a big griddle, you can make a lot!
@mcmoots@distel Is it that it's hard to get good maple syrup in Germany? Because pancakes without good maple syrup have no reason for existing. Or maybe my Michigan is showing.
@distel restaurants in the u.s. tend to have very large flat rectangular grills, like a hibachi grill, for cooking pancakes, burgers, and other things that need frying or grilling
