@dzuk I'm not proud of this (and I'm not a big hard scary guy either) but from 1970s (infant school) until mid 1980s (pre teen) was regularly involved in *physical fights* against racists.

In spite of these lads being bigger than me I often won (and then accused of not "fighting fair" 😆 ).

Even then it was only a temporary solution, hate remained on both sides.

To this day I still "look over my shoulder" (I'm an ethnic minority and a *cyclist*, so am double target)

@dzuk but also during the rave days I had friends who used to be footy hooligan/national front in 1980s and these lads *were* genuine, not just being "multicultural" because drugs were strong and plentiful and then racist again on comedowns (which I've also seen) - we guarded squats together, kept them safe from vigilanté commercial property owners, BNP types etc and helped others stay below the radar of police etc so we could get away with partying..
