Here was something I dropped before I decided to just do lots of emojos.
I wanted to learn human anatomy for drawing but wanted better visual breakdowns of it and was disappointed by the material I could find. So I decided to try to build my own models of understanding from drawing books as well as public domain medical anatomical texts, and I came up with this idea of breaking down muscle insertions/origins as if it was some kind of metro diagram.
(all of what I showed was majorly WIP)
I also tried to break down many bones (although not all simply because it's not finished) into simple to parse 3D shapes, because certain shapes like the pelvis really trip people up and seeing the super-realistic versions of them (which you don't need to really learn unless you want to get good at drawing skeletons) evade easy understanding as to what the three-dimensional structure is.
Oh yeah, I also made the skeleton androgynous (as much as a skeleton can be, humans don't really have much sexual dimorphism) because fuck cisnormative drawing materials.
@dzuk as a med student, this would have been really useful for studying the locomotor system during the anatomy course. with a bit more detailed labeling, you could easily sell that to them too. (i have something similar for cranial nerves, though those diagrams aren't topographical)
this is really really awesome :)
@queerplant thanks!!!
@dzuk This is cool, as a sculptor I really appreciate this.
If you put it for sale ping me or something. I'm interested.
This only shows the muscles that in some way show themselves on the surface of the human body (ie. mostly 'superficial' muscles). They are roughly grouped and colour-coded in terms of function.
I'll try to come back to it again later sometime. Perhaps make a print and sell a digital version on Gumroad.
