Talking to kiilas yesterday, it's amazing realising how my history lessons at school had a huge fucking hole in it from WW2 onwards. There was nothing about the cold war or the fall of the soviet union, for instance. I started understanding what that kind of stuff was much later after the fact.


Like, just nothing really about the near historical conditions that actually made the present when I was at school (2000's)

@dzuk Huh. The cold war and the fall of the USSR were covered when I was in school. We also had a few chapters about recent Chinese and Japanese history

@Siphonay there was no world history either. I also had to learn that shit on my own time.

@Siphonay @dzuk We definitely had stuff about the soviet union, the post stalinist reforms and the bay of pigs.
