update: I never heard back from the mstdn.jp admin, but do see evidence that they've taken effective action against the spambots:
1. Accounts that we blocked have now been removed from the instance.
2. No new spam reports since my previous message about them.
3. They've installed some kind of DOS protection from Cloudflare, which I think will also mitigate automated account creation.

Do any of you know enough Japanese to translate a few sentences for me? :weirder_earth: is getting a lot of spam from mstdn.jp so I've reached out to that instance's admin asking them to close registrations while this continues: weirder.earth/@eldang/10259964 - but I don't speak Japanese and don't know if they speak English. If anyone can reply-all in that thread with a better translation to Japanese than Google's, I would be very grateful.

@dsno Hello! I'm sorry that I don't speak Japanese so I will write to you in English and hope you can read it or have it translated.

I am one of the moderators of weirder.earth and we are getting a lot of spam accounts from your instance following users on our instance. They all seem to be automated because they follow a very consistent pattern. Would you consider closing registrations until the spam attack stops?

Thank you. team. :weirder_earth:
