weirder.earth etiquette recommendation (not subtooting anyone in particular, I've just been seeing more long threads in the local TL lately):
if you're writing a long toot-thread that you want to share publicly, it's nice to make your first toot "Public" and then the following toots "Unlisted." that way, only the 1st toot will show up in the local TL, & anyone who's interested can click on it to read the whole thread.
thank you to everyone who posts publicly! I enjoy yr thoughts. 💚
I know it's a Big Giving Day and those actually get pretty tiresome, but I hope I can encourage a few of you to give to the decolonisation solidarity fundraiser Jewish Voice for Peace is doing, splitting the proceeds with the Palestinian Youth Movement and The Red Nation: http://jvp.org/solidarity19
50% goes to https://jewishvoiceforpeace.org/faq/
25% to https://therednation.org/manifesto/principles-of-unity/
25% to https://www.pymusa.com/year-in-review
Dichrostachys cinerea (Goya Khair), is another of the useful plants that you will find at the Aravalli Biodiversity Park in Gurgaon. It also goes by the name Sicklebush.
The park itself is a young, rejuvenated forest and should be on your list if you are in Delhi/NCR.
Art project idea:
"Gendered" bathrooms with e-paper signs that change to different arbitrary symbols every day.
Symbol pairs will be chosen so that each day most people will manage to fit in but each day someone else would actually prefer a third/forth/fifth option.
Examples: Star Wars vs. Star Trek, Apples vs. Bananas, Vim vs. Emacs, Triangles vs. Squares, Coffee vs. Tea, …
you get the idea…
@data @drwho @eldang it's still very early days, but it's chugging along! I'm posting all #Readlebee-related things on its own account: @Readlebee
And all the information about it can also be found on that masto profile, too!
Once it's far enough along, I'll be asking for a lot of help with translations and code, but for now it’s still getting the basics set up. 👍
@eldang Um. Just so you know...
We got an astonishingly long flowering out of our dahlias this year because November’s weather was so weird. But all that lives must die and last week’s frost saw to that. #florespondence
Hey #SFFBookClub! @naga is taking December off from organising, but for those who still want to take part this month I suggest making it a sequels month. I will be reading Jeff VanderMeer's Authority https://www.librarything.com/work/14511352 which has been sitting on my bookshelf since shortly after we read Annihilation. I've also read Ann Leckie's and Margaret Killjoy's sequels and would love to talk about those if any of you pick one for your December read.

This is an image of the Southern Coucal shot at Thattekkad in Kerala. When this bird popped into the view-finder I realised that I had too much of a lens to capture the entire bird. The standout feature for me were the eyes - ruby red with a black cornea. It was mesmerising and I knew, instinctively, that the eye needed to grab attention in the image.
y'all. lets please stop using "poly" for "polyamorous" and get in the habit of using "polya" or "polyam". the reasoning behind this is a plea from Polynesian folk who have claimed the ID "Poly" for themselves, like, A WHILE ago.
A: Its fine if you didn't know, we're always learning.
A: Congrats if you already do this.
A: If you feel esp defensive about this, thats the racism trying to leave your body. Let it go.
A: If you won't, congrats, you're a racist.
New work at the Seattle Art Museum since I last visited.
I’m not sure why I’m quite so charmed by this particular piece, but I love it.
My profile photo is a perfect likeness.
