Anti homeless sentiment
@interneteh This is one of many reasons I believe most people can't see the big picture. The look at a homeless person and see how they are in that moment.
Not the series of personal disasters that lead to that moment. Not the struggle with mental health or addiction that doesn't make it easy to "Just get a job" or whatever else. They don't see the systemic problems that keep them down.
And worse, they don't see how they could be in the same place with just a few bad days.
@cute Then, all of a sudden, out of nowhere, an infinite bus pulls into the front drives. The bus driver gets out and goes to the front desk and asks "Hey, I have an infinite number n of people on this bus, and none of them booked a hotel beforehand, can they stay here?"
Once again, the guy at the front desk says "No problem, we're full!". Once again, the front desk guy calls up every guest in the hotel, this time saying "Multiply your room number by two and move into that room." The guests grumble a bit, but this shit happens when you're staying in an infinite hotel - the new arrival in room 1 moves to room 2, the person in room 2 moves to room 4, and so on until the person in room n+1 moves to room 2n+2.
The front desk then checks in all infinite people on the bus into the odd numbered rooms in the infinite hotel.
@cute ok so imagine you have an infinite hotel that has an infinite number n of rooms, the hotel is full. Then another person checks in, says "Hey I'd like a room please.", the guy at the front desk says "No problem, we're full!", so they ask every person in all n rooms to move up one number. The person in room 1 moves to room 2, the person in room 2 moves to room 3, and so on until the person in room n moves to room n+1 - so the new arrival can stay in room 1.
talking about machine learning datasets
One thing I think even people who start thinking about the problem miss is that you would have to actively construct antibiased training data. any supposedly neutral sources are poisoned by structural oppression even if the creators aren't. Building a classifier will always recreate the biases of society because the input data even if "correct" is society. if you trawl public data sources at all you will reproduce racism, sexism, classism and everything bad
if you are a PPC contractor available now/soon and potentially in/around Brighton UK, I know someone who is looking now.
Hit me up and I put you in touch with this person somehow.
Would anyone be interested in a sewing blog focused on sewing for trans women?
Stuff like copying patterns from clothing that already fits you well so that you can feminize them. Clothing modification. Making your own femme underwear that'll fit your hips and genital configuration. That sort of thing.
I'm not an amazing seamstress, but I'm finding sewing to be a very affirming way of approaching the process of replacing my clothes.
