Let's do a re-introduction since I have been going through quite a bit of growth since the last one, and there are a lot of new people now.

Hi I'm Nix. I came out as trans earlier this year, but I've been on the fediverse for about five years now. I'm a software engineer and mom to five kids. I help run weirder.earth. I consider myself an anarchist but who knows what that even means.

a note boosting/interacting with my posts

If I make a post and it’s public (and not local only) it’s a-okay to boost it. If I make a followers only post that’s a bit more private obviously and if I make an unlisted post that was probably an error on my part lol.

What a beautiful, optimistic piece of speculative fiction.

I don’t hate dark SF, but sometimes it’s nice to read about the hopes and dreams that we still have for the tech we build.

Thanks for this, @naomikritzer. It was just what I needed today.

If I moved to Portland, where a good place to look? I would prefer to be out a little bit, and I have five kids

So is it too late to be bowsette for Halloween? Like is that too 2022?

Just as you don’t go to the witch at the edge of town without already having decided to hex someone, you don’t come to the only trans person you know for advice without having already decided in the back of your mind that you’re going to make some big change. It’s a beautiful thing, to be the midwife of a million tiny transformations.

the best part of traditional Italian places is doodling on the paper that covers the red-and-white-checked tablecloth while waiting for your dinner

(though my Shrimp Diavolo was fucking amazing too)

She really is just so pretty y’all. Like quite possibly the prettiest girl in the world.

I think I just hit peak trans lesbian: just told another trans girl about how I keep listening to the theme song for Serial Experiments Lain cause it reminds me of how pretty she is.

please can people not share pirate links to Mira's zine.

It's just $10.

It was her pride of work, she was working on a sequel and together we had another written project that was 90% finished for a first chapter in a series.

The money goes to the bellwether family as we figure out things like funeral arrangements, medical bills and all the extras.

polyamory ++++

I feel like each time I add a new partner, it makes me love my other partners more. I honestly am shocked.

trans (-)

The one thing that sucks about being trans is this feeling of uncertainty about the future like will I be able to continue to live where I am? How long? How can I plan for a future when I don’t know where I will have to live in two years

When someone disagrees with you online & demands you prove your point to their satisfaction by writing a logically sound defense, u can save a lot of time by not doing that.

Dude, I've known u for ten seconds & enjoyed none of them, I'm not taking homework assignments from you.

people will tell you that your fear and uncertainty mean you’re not cut out for the arts but please don’t give in to that hustler mindset stuff. I need anxious, uncertain, sensitive weirdos to be making art. we need that.

Today's almost certainly the day where everyone finds out I'm not really a functional adult but actually just several maladaptive coping mechanisms in a trenchcoat

If someone underestimates me, it’s useful if they are my adversary. But it’s not always useful to make people who have no confidence in my abilities into my adversaries.

I keep rewriting every bit of my PhD dissertation.

It's practically becoming the Ship of Thesis.

The existence of cardinals implies the existence of ordinal and nominal birds

Trans women should not be excluded from any women's spaces, even if it's just some of them. Even if it's sports. Saying a trans woman isn't woman enough to be in a women's space just plays into the genocidal rhetoric and playbook that the conservatives are using. If we acknowledge that this is a space for compromise, then the rest of our genocide is all about negotiation. I'd rather tear down all competitive sports before ceding a single inch to that agenda.
