Fett! Thanks to the life-changing magic of css, I can have margin notes! (And using a media selector so it only happens on wide screens.)

Example page: https://idiomdrottning.org/color-gin

For what's semantically on the entire a block/para level and not jusr a parenthesis, I can use aside instead of small, but I haven't changed older posts yet. Here's a newer one that does (CW climate): https://idiomdrottning.org/low-hanging-fruit

@Sandra
Bug report: with Vivaldi on desktop, zoomed to 1.5 (my default), the left side of the main text is cut off. I can scroll a small amount to the right to see the margin notes in full.

@j12i

This is a bug in all browsers I've tried with, or maybe it's a shortcoming in the spec itself: I want to set the media min-width selectors to use em (as in, a certain number of letters at the users chosen zoom level), not px, but that isn't supported.

Maybe I can use calc somehow? 🤔

@Sandra
> media min-width selectors to use em … isn't supported
are you sure?
quick web search gave zellwk.com/blog/media-query-un

@j12i

I had a stray semi-colon 🤦🏻‍♀️ Will update
@j12i

This morning I kept trying with "64em;" and it didn't work, while "1000px" with the semicolon accidentally (but correctly) elided did work. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Now as you try to zoom in and out you'll see the margin notes pop in and out correctly.
For 1.5 on your width, they belong inside the text ♥
