Even people who advocate for peeling a banana from the opposite end refer to it as "from the opposite end" or "upside-down" or "backwards", no matter how fiercely they express that advocacy and how strongly they condemn peeling a banana normally.

Hey @Sandra, with "opposite end" you do mean the end opposite to the stem, the flower end, right?
If so then I'm one of those people, but I don't say "backwards" or "upside-down". I may say "from the other end" (the difference to "opposite" could be due to translation).
"Upside-down" could actually come not from "the normal way to peel it" but from the way they grow.

I left that intentionally blank because I wanted to comment on how the backwards-eating crowd communicates and how self-defeating they are (facetiously usually). It becomes silly when they're like "this is the only way that everyone normal does it" while also calling their own version opposite or backwards 🤦🏻♀️
I tried both ways and there's one way I clearly prefer (opening at the end with the longer stem) but I'm for people trying both ways and deciding for themselves. I'm not into an Lilliput and Blefuscu–style skub fight 💁🏻♀️
(And people please don't post "whoosh" because if you can post whatever the heck you want "as a joke", then you can interpret my responses as just playing along too 💁🏻♀️)
