cw: staticy sounds

Here is an example of how noisy the signal constantly sounds.💔 I have such a hard time setting up #Guitarix to get a tone that’s overdriven without being too static-y.🎸

I'm pretty close to "total noob" in my level of knowledge, but to me that sounds like hum, not static.

That is, I think it's on a specific frequency (and the harmonics thereof).

@yam655 To me hum is more like ommmmmm (I had terrible DC hum on my, uh, a couple of setups ago) and this is more crackling and bad-AM-reception-y

You're right. Looking at the spectrogram, it doesn't look like DC hum. There's a particularly strong band, but it's all pretty noisy.

From seymourduncan.com/blog/swd/how :

"Check for dirty or faulty jacks that can oxidize in time as the plating inside the jack becomes worn. Oxidized jacks can keep the guitar cord from making a solid connection and can cause static and crackles."

I wonder if it is that.

Yeah. This guitar was found dumpster diving on Iceland by a friend of mine. Sans trem lever. And no brand logo (could be an old Tōkai? But that’s a completely unfounded guess). It’s a 3c sunburst, white pick guard strat style guitar. Yeah, oxidized jack could be it.
